In this section, you’ll find downloadable lesson plans for helping learners develop and enhance their ability to be effective GE users.
Lesson plans with tasks, activities, and projects that involve real interaction. By "real interaction" we mean that the interlocutors do not know in advance what the other person will say, so they have to pay attention, understand one another (and, quite likely, negotiate understanding), and react to what the others are saying. The interactions involve either personal or professional communication, where the goal is to successfully communicate (and/or build relationships), as opposed to an activity where learners are mechanically “practicing English”.
Lesson plans with tasks, activities, and projects that focus on expanding learners' repertoires of vocabulary and more complex ways of expressing themselves, to provide them with tools that will help them participate in a wider variety of communicative acts, and with a wider variety of people. Typically the language introduced will be based on an instructional variety of English, but teachers will highlight that there may be other perfectly acceptable ways of expressing the same thing.
(If teachers use any of these lesson plans, we would appreciate it if they would acknowledge the author.)
