Havergal joined as a Global Member of Round Square in 2023, plugging us in to a network of over 250 schools in over 50 countries. Round Square offers many different global learning experiences, from regional conference to international conferences, to Zoom "PostCards," and professional development for educators.
Round Square philosophy speaks to the importance of human connection and collaboration, global cooperation, and I.D.E.A.L.S.:
Internationalism
Democracy
Environmentalism
Adventure
Leadership
Service
Every student learning experience will delve into one or more of the I.D.E.A.L.S.
Students will spend three days in a carousel including Service, Environmental and Adventure activities. The conference will split into three groups, and each group will rotate around the three days in a different order, with all delegations experiencing all three days.
Each day will begin with a Keynote and Baraza at one of the host schools before heading out to an activity.
On Service Day GEMS Modern Academy will host a programme of activities in which conference delegates will plan and lead activities working with differently abled students. On Adventure Day, The Indian High School will host us at an Adventure Park where delegates will take on team challenges, zip wires and high ropes. On Environmental Day, The Millennium School are exploring opportunities to take delegates out into the environment beyond the dunes to connect with nature, and consider some of the environmental challenges faced in a desert environment. In the evenings of the carousel, activities will include a barbeque, a Round Square Souk and a cultural performance opportunity.
In September 2024 academic year, eight students treveled to Bogota, Colombia for the RSIC 2024. The theme of this conference was "Blooming from the Past" and included a pre-conference excursion to Cartagena. There students met with other RSIC students to learn and engage with the history of the incredible country of Colombia.
In October of 2023, five student delegates traveled with Dr. Samson and Mr. Nichols to the Round Square International Conference (RSIC), hosted by Brookhouse School, Nairobi, Kenya.
This conference themed "The New Africa" highlighted democracy, adventure and service, but students also engaged in internationalism, environmentalism and leadership just by taking part!
