Piano Study
Private piano or other keyboard study may be pursued at Haverford-Bryn Mawr in two ways. Of course, anyone wishing to begin, resume or continue piano or other keyboard lessons during their college years on a purely independent basis is at liberty and is encouraged to do so. However, if you wish to study under the aegis of the Music Department, the following options are available.
Non-Academic
You may consult with the Director of Instrumental Studies for recommendations about beginning/resuming/continuing lessons which you plan to pursue on a non-academic, independent basis. This is useful particularly if, down the road, you wish to make the transition to doing private study for credit.
Academic Course Credit
Private Study for .5 Course Credit. Please register for MUSCH 210 as you would register for any other class. HOWEVER you will first need to first take an audition and then you will be assigned a teacher.
Please read the course catalog description for MUSCH210 for details regarding private study as an academic course. You will need to sign up for an audition during the first week of the semester.
For anyone interested in Jazz Studies for MUSCH 210 for credit : You may use the Jazz band at Swarthmore to fulfill your ensemble requirements.
However- if you would like to receive a subsidy you will need to be part of a Haverford College faculty led ensemble such as the Bi-College Chorale .

Students arrange their private lesson times with their teachers and are responsible for the balance or the cost of lessons after subsidy.
Students receiving subsidy need to be part of a Faculty -led Ensemble: Chorale, Chamber Singers/Orchestra or Chamber Music
See Dr. Nate Zullinger for more information and the set up an audition for Chorale.
