Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need an iPad, cardboard, scissors, tape, and markers.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A cardboard robot.
What unique qualities will your project have?
I will be drawing on the robot and giving it buttons and levers.
The progress of my project:
Day 1: I begin to put certain parts of my robot together, like the head and body.
Day 2: I decide to give my robot an actual use, making it into a trash robot. I also use markers to draw some designs on it, and add a few more parts to it, like a little see-through window and a door in the back to throw the trash into.
Day 3: I experiment with different legs for my robot and allow people to test out the trash function of my robot by putting trash in it.
Day 4: I mostly tested out more legs for my robot.
Day 5: I finally found some feet for my robot and added a few pictures of it on to my site.
Day 6: I answered my sentence starters and filmed and inserted the video of my robot.
Using cardboard, I created a trash robot because I wanted to create something out of cardboard and give it a use.
During this process, I learned that building something out of cardboard by yourself can be pretty challenging.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global Collaborator because I used an iPad to take pictures and show the process of the construction of my trash bot and share it with the world.
A challenge I overcame on this project was building my robot. I was able to do it by finding the pieces that would work best for it.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change some of the body parts of my robot. The reason why I would change it is because it can be hard to see what I drew on those pieces of cardboard.
