Here is my list of 25 things:
For our 11th project me and mady paired up to make a item to sell at the HHS store, called Saxon Den. We decided to make bracelets using different colored rubber bands, and using a loom hook, as seen in the photo on the right. We wanted to make three different kinds of bracelets that would match the seasons and the school. We made one bracelet with the HHS school colors, the blue and yellow bracelet, and we made a bracelet that had Christmas colors, red and green, and a thanksgiving bracelet, red yellow and orange. We thought that holiday bracelets would be a cool idea that you could give to your friends on the holidays.
During this process I learned how to create bracelets and I learned about marketing skills, like what type of item would work at this store. We had to create a type of item that students would want to buy and a item that wouldn't cost too much to make, so we decided to create bracelets. I had to learn how to make the bracelets from my partner mady, once I got a hold of making the bracelets the process was pretty smooth and we made the 3 bracelets as shown on the photo on the left.
Out of the 7 standards the one that relates to our project is Innovative designer. I think our project ties to innovative designer because we had to use the design process to solve our problem of creating a item for the Saxon den. Also I think our project ties to innovative designer because we had to use the step by step system to revise our product to make it even better. Originally we were going to use yarn instead of rubber bands, but we realized that yarn was going to take to long, and in the future the yarn could get gross and worn and would fall apart.
A challenge I overcame on this project was learning how to make the bracelets. I had never made a bracelet in my entire life until this project so learning how to create them was a little hard at first. I was able to make the bracelets because Mady taught me how to make the bracelets and she helped me with the hard parts of the bracelets. Once I learned how to make them though, the process went a lot faster.
If I had to do this project again I would change some of the pattern designs, and would make more bracelets. The reason I would change this is that I think if we had different pattern designs, maybe ones that are more complex, more people would want to buy the bracelets, because the patterns are cool. I would want to make more bracelets because then the students would have more of a selection to choose from.
This project connects to careers in business or store owner, because we created bracelets that we could sell to others. In business we could create a store for bracelets, like a at home store, or a online business. For a store owner I would have to be able to create my item and have a good set up for my store. In the future if I wanted to pursue business I would know what things to look for in my product so that it appeals to customers.
