I am designing a phone holder to sell. Using Tinker cad. I wanted to make this because it seems that kids in high school like to use their phones.
This is my finished product before printing it using the 3D printer. This is the one that printed well and did not fail.
This is a video of my final product. It cost about $1.28 cents to print using the 3D printer.
Using the 3D printer, I created a phone holder. I created a phone holder because I am going to see this at the saxon den at the high school, High schoolers seem to really love to use their phones. This product will let them watch youtube or movies on their phone with no need to hold it.
During this process, I learned that when creating a product, to try to make something someone else isn't really trying to make at the same time. I also learned that when making something, to create something people are going to want and buy. Learning these things helped me create the product I did.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because during the process I was learning how to make and 3D print things so I was learning. My project also tied in with Innovative Designer because I was creating and designing a phone holder over the spand of a couple weeks.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making something I thought I was never gonna be able to make. I never thought I was going to be able to 3D print something, that has always been a challenge to me is making something using Tinker Cad. I was able to do it by learning the way Tinker Cad works and how to design something using it, and also 3D printing it.
Given the chance to do this again i would change the size of the thing that actually make the phone stay up. If I were ti make something else I would make something no one has done that I have seen. There is just a couple things I would do different next time.
This project connect to careers in Designing and Engineering at the Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program. I say this because for me to make it i needed designing skills. For me to print it I really needed engineering skills.
