Here is a video of me working CoSpace. In the video I move around the walls of the pencil holder and change the size.
Here is the model of my SAXONS pencil holder on Tinker Cad. This took me multiple tries but in the end it turned out great.
Here is the 3D model of my SAXONS pencil holder after being made by the 3D printer. I was scared at first that I ruined it by making the letters stick out, but it actually wasn't bad.
For this Project, I made a pencil holder. I chose to make this because I can assume that one problem Hastings high school students face is having nowhere to put their pencils. To resemble the Hastings spirit put into this, I made the color gold and had lettering on the front that reads, "SAXONS."
I learned a lot from doing this project. One thing I learned is that if anything is floating in Tinker Cad, it does not mean it will float in real life. Another thing I learned is that if there is any sort of curve on a side of a design, it will create a, "Spaghetti Monster." Luckily I didn't make these mistakes myself, but have learned from others.
Out of the 7 standards in class, I believe I used the innovative designer digital citizenship skill. I believe this because I had to create a design in my head, and then actually make the design digitally. My main challenge was making sure I printed the design right, which I actually did my first try.
I also believe my project goes with the CTE program Engineering Design. I think this because I had to use my skill of coming with ideas and put it to the test. This project helped me take an understanding on Engineering Design and how to use it in the future.
One thing I would do differently would be to add compartments. I made a pretty basic design, and I believe what would make it better would be adding compartments. If I could make this design again in the future, I would fully agree on making a more complex design.
I think this project contributed to the skill of inventing because we had to come up with ideas on a 3D print we probably haven't seen before. We also had to use a lot of time thinking on how we could make an affordable design that we could sell for cheaper. Overall, I believe this project gave me more skills on inventing.
