Using clay, I created a short movie because I wanted to tell a story in a fun and creative way. During this process, I learned how to be patient and careful when shaping clay and moving the pieces step by step to make the animation smooth. The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I had to design characters and come up with creative ways to bring them to life. A challenge I overcame on this project was making the clay figures stand up without falling over. I was able to do it by adding support and reshaping them until they balanced. Given a chance to do this again, I would change how long the movie was. The reason why I would change it is because I think adding more scenes would make it even better. Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in animation and filmmaking because they both use creative media skills to tell stories.
