Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for your project?
Robots. The minis.
What is your plan to create in this project?
We are going to play a game with the minis and use them as a controller.
What unique qualities will your project have?
2 people will be helping with this.
Daily Log:
DAY 1: Pick groups and picked robots.
DAY 2: Coded a square with the mini.
DAY 3: Tried to code a triangle with the mini but we failed many times.
DAY 4: We finally got the triangle coded.
DAY 5: Coded a rectangle with the mini.
DAY 6: Took videos of mini and started on the dash.
DAY 7: Started building on the dash.
DAY 8: Finished building on the dash and throw tire.
DAY 9: We videoed the Dash.
DAY 10: Picked a word for the iRobot.
DAY 11: Coded the iRobot.
DAY 12: We finished the coding.
DAY 13: We videoed the iRobot. Then we started on the party bomb.
DAY 14: We finished the bolt.
DAY 15: I did a race.
Using the Bolt robot, I created a code that made a party bomb, then a movement, then lastly a color changing celebration because I had to learn how to do a code that does movement and color changing. Using the Dash robot, I created a place to put a mini tire on the robot. I coded the robot to throw a tire because I had to learn how to code a robot to throw something and learn how to build something useful with Legos. Using a Sphero mini robot, I created different regular shapes because I had to learn how to make a robot make different shapes. Using the iRobot, I created a code to make the robot spell a word because I had to learn how to make a code to make a robot write a word.
During this process, I learned how to code robots. How to use the space around me to create things. And I learned how to make the bolt change colors. The last thing I learned how to do was Dash throw a tire and to build a lego tower.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to digital citizen because noting I made was copy righted. My project also ties to global collaborator because the things I made are all over the world so anyone can see my project
A challenge I overcame on this project was I didn't know how to use the iRobot and the mini. I was able to do it by I asked for help by a friend for the iRobot. With the mini I went to two different apps and I was able to figure it out.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change to a different word for the iRobots. The reason why I would change it is because we were in a rush and I had to pick a word fast. I would probably change the word to hey.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects most strongly to the Computer Programing CTE program at Hastings High School. This would be because, for this project, computer programing was all that I was doing. Similar techniques can be applied in careers like video game design, computer software design, AI design, and so much more.
