Using cardboard, I created a ping pong ball toss game because I wanted to make something out of cardboard and this was the first idea. We started by thinking of what do we want to make. We cornered it down to some sort of carnival game. We also wanted a toss game of sorts. So we mashed them together and we got the toss game thing.
During this process, I learned how to rip duct tape. I got this knowledge when I was taping the bottom pieces together on the box and I tried to rip it like paper and it extended what was rolled out. Then Garret showed me how. Then I ripped it sideways and tighter and I ripped it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator because we had to communicate with one another. If we did not communicate with one another then we would all be trying o work towards a different end goal.
A challenge I overcame on this project was trying to get a box to fit in a box. I was able to do it by compressing one of the boxes. So I had a box and I wanted to make it so the same kind of box to sit in the other box so we had a floor for the money sorter. I went forward by pushing in both of the sides then tapping it to hold it. I then did this 3 times and I tucked it in there.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the look of the main box. The reason why I would change it is because it looks not ideal. In the front it looks messy. I would clean up the cost words and smoothen things out. The sides are mainly untouched and have the pictures of the box. I would duck tape the sides to give it some look. We could of also colored it with markers.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to this due to us having to make a plan then go out and make it. My project connects to the career person who makes carnival games. This is that job since we made a carnival game of sorts.
