Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I'm working in a team of me and my friend Addella, as per usual.
What materials will you need for your project?
We will need a wooden plank, a SVG. File of the design we want to use, the Ipad to record a video, and the Glow Forge.
What is your plan to create in this project?
We will spend the first couple days taking a template and making it our own, as to be original, and then use that and create a picture carved out on wood by the GlowForge, then we'll setup the website, make sure everything in place by the last day, and finish.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be original, holiday themed, and useable for every year. With a unique project and design, intricate patterns, and a potential gift for any holiday enthusiast.

Today was spent finiding a good template on Canva to model out project after, obviously we would chnage the tenplate and make it our own. We also had to convince our teacher to let us work with the GlowForge once again, in which he let us after some careful consideration.
Today we changed around the template, designing it and making it our own, with the approval of Mr. Renner of course. In the end we created a fairly good design and once it was finished we downloaded it and turned it into a SVG. File for the GlowFroge.
Today we used the GlowForge to imprint the design, which basically took the entire hour, so we couldn't find much to do after that. I did have a nice talk with the teacher though about finances, which was pretty fun and kept my mind busy for the hour, as to draw away from boredom.
The project was finished and the rest was mostly on Addella, who had to screen shot it, locate it, and use it in the website while also sending it to me. I worked on my website in the meantime.
Today the assignment is one day late. and we should end up finishing it today as everyhting is mostly done. But one very important issue occured. The website was missing. It didn't save, and now today I also have to redo it all over again. Hopefully, I complete everything by today.
Using the GlowForge and the other necessary materials needed to operate it, I created a wooden Christmas holiday sign, because we're nearing the festive season, and it's come to my attention that both Addella me have mother's who really enjoy seeing the spirit of Christmas in their house. So I decided to gift one of them a Christmas decoration that they can use in the future and should withstand the test of time, as to not waste materials, spend more money, and waste more time. I do believe whoever receives this project will enjoy it and hopefully use it for the years to come.
During this process, I learned further of the operations that the GlowForge and how it works, and what it can do. I thought that the GlowForge originally only cut wood, but apparently it can go to a certain depth through the wood just to make an imprint. I didn't know this before, and I thought it simply had to cut it first to preform this act. But now I know you can simply ask for it to do that alone, without any cutting process. We also learned further setup of the GlowForge, as there's steps and operations I didn't know I had to do before. Now I know all this, and it sure does make a difference.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator because when operating the GlowForge, you need to have a creative idea in mind. To add, when you create holiday decorations, or decorations in general, you're communicating your interest in something through your house and environment, in this case, you're exhibiting your interest in holidays, specifically Christmas for this occasion. It would be the same thing, even if it wasn't a holiday. In the end, the project is just about the definition of "Creative Communicator.".
A challenge I overcame on this project was the deletion of my website, and as usual, time management. Around the time i was just about finished this this project, my 8P8 section deleted itself. Not to mention, right after we had another very important project I have to get done as well, which I suppose now has to wait for later today- if I even have the time or energy to do so. I haven't been feeling very good latley, so it's been rather hard to get anything done, and I can't exactly put a finger on the reason, but it's bad. I was able to do it by restarting the website section and doing it all over again, which took up around the whole hour, but I suppose in the end it might've been worth it? I'll also be working on some at home if possible.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way I helped Addella manage her time, as I'm starting to feel like she's holding me back. Of course, we're best friends and either way, useful or not, I still want to work with her. But I will admit, her unwillingness to work is getting a little exhausting. The reason why I would change it is because I don't want to feel like she's holding me back, and I don't want that feeling for her as well. So, if I ever do a project with her again, I won't be allowing her to scroll on Zillow for the hour instead of doing the work, just as I won't be allowing myself to play typing games all hour, despite the satisfying sounds they make.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Product Design, E-Commerce Businessing, Custom Crafting, and Event Decor because because they all leverage digital design skills and craftsmen ship to create sellable items, mostly in individual and small buisnesses, which is common sellers for projects like mine.
