Using LEGO bricks, I created a house that keeps building upward as the story progresses. The idea behind this was to represent building people up instead of tearing them down. Each added level of the house symbolized growth, encouragement, and positivity. This gave my project both a visual and meaningful message.
During this project, I also learned how to create a stop-motion animation using LEGOs. I took multiple pictures and moved the pieces slightly between each shot to create motion. This process helped me understand how animation works frame by frame. It also taught me patience and attention to detail.
My project connects to the seven standards of the class, especially Digital Citizen. I used storytelling and digital tools to communicate a positive message. By creating and sharing my animation responsibly, I showed how technology can be used in a meaningful way. This made my project more than just building—it became a digital story.
One challenge I faced was making sure all the pictures were in the correct order and that the animation made sense. If the images were out of place, the motion would look confusing. I solved this problem by carefully organizing my photos in iMotion. I also took time to think through each step before capturing the next frame.
If I had the chance to do this project again, I would improve the final design of the house. I would make it bigger and add a roof at the top. This change would better show the idea of building all the way up to a finished goal. It would also make the ending feel more complete and polished.
The Hastings High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) program offers many pathways, including Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects most closely with the Agriculture CTE program. Building and designing structures relates to planning and creating real-world systems. It also reflects creativity and problem-solving used in agricultural projects.
My project also connects to careers such as stop-motion animators, puppet or character fabricators, set designers, and model makers. These careers involve creating detailed scenes and bringing them to life through animation. Professionals in this field need skills in design, photography, and storytelling. Companies like Laika use these techniques to produce films, showing how important these creative roles are.
