Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself for this project.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need an iPad, and a computer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I plan to create a website, with a video all about me.
What unique qualities will your project have?
I will make my project as easy to understand as possible.
Using the iPad, iMovie, and computers, I created both my website and my 8P1 video. I wanted to design a space where people could explore my projects while also getting a glimpse into who I am. By combining these tools, I was able to showcase my work in a way that felt personal and informative, helping others connect with my creations and my story.
During this process, I learned how to use iMovie through daily tutorials with Mr. Renner, which helped me gain a solid understanding of video editing. I also learned how to use Google Sites, which was essential for building my website. I'm really glad I picked up these skills because they're something I can use for life, whether for creating presentations or just for fun projects in the future.
The 7 standards of this class—Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator—each focus on different aspects of learning and creating in a digital world. My project specifically ties to the Digital Citizen standard, as I made sure to use only non-copyright images, sounds, and music. This was an important step because using copyright-free resources ensures that I respect intellectual property rights and helps me avoid legal issues, while also promoting responsible digital behavior.
One challenge I overcame was not knowing how to add images to iMovie. To figure it out, I started by clicking around the app, asking questions when I got stuck, and following Mr. Renner's tutorials for guidance. Overcoming this challenge was important because being able to solve problems on my own opens up more opportunities for creativity and learning, whereas not solving them could have left me frustrated and limited in what I could accomplish .
If I had the chance to do this project again, I would change the length of my video. Right now, it's only about a minute long, which feels a bit too short to fully convey everything I want to share. I would make it longer to give viewers more time to get to know me and learn more about my projects and interests.
Hastings High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program offers a variety of fields, including Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program, as I created a video all about myself, which involved skills like video editing and content creation. This ties directly to Digital Multimedia because I applied those techniques to tell my story and showcase my work in a creative and engaging way.
My project connects to careers in Film Editing, as it involved creating and editing a video. I applied skills similar to those used in film editing by adding sounds, music, and text to enhance the story and make the video more engaging. This experience gave me a taste of what it's like to work in the film editing industry, where attention to detail and creativity are key in bringing a project to life.
I acknowledge that I used ChatGPT, an AI language model developed by OpenAI, to assist in composing and refining the written content of this project.
