Using reverse engineering, I created a detailed analysis of a product's components and how they work together because I wanted to understand the design process and improve my problem-solving skills.
During this process, I learned how to deconstruct complex systems and identify key components, which gave me insight into how things are made and how they function together.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I gained new knowledge by analyzing an existing product and figuring out its underlying structure.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out how to reverse engineer the product without compromising its function or structure. I was able to do it by carefully documenting each step of the process and ensuring I tested every component before moving on.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the tools I used for disassembling the product. The reason why I would change it is because the current tools were not optimal for the delicate parts, which made the process slower and more difficult.
