Course grades are an attempt to measure what you have learned this semester related to our key learning goals. Learning is a process that involves struggle, and mistakes that culminates in a performance; therefore, some of the grade is based on discussion forums which are typically 20 point assignments wherein you interact with your classmates. You will also write a rhetorical analysis for your midterm and do many course projects in the second half of the semester culminating in your final semester project.
What I expect in your discussion forum postings:
Ground Rules:
Be constructive and productive
Do not gripe or whine
Ask questions
Contribute replies
Expect to be misunderstood
Don't take things personally
Be supportive
General Rules for Management:
Participation in discussions with your class members is an important part of this course. With each module a topic will be posted on which you are expected to comment, question, elaborate and respond to other postings. The topic will address what is being discussed in the module. You are urged to post within a day or two of the discussion opening. By doing this you will have time to follow-up with other postings.
Here are discussion forum guidelines:
Be courteous, tolerant and supportive.
Avoid using slang and texting abbreviations.
No profanity or derogatory remarks!
Okay to disagree but not okay to attack.
Before posting read your message aloud for tone.
Remember everyone will see what you post.
