American Government is required for all seniors. The objective of this course is to teach students the nature of our governmental system and their role as citizens of the United States, to have the student take part in the election process, and get him or her involved in the greatest freedom a person can have, the right to express one's feelings through his/her voting privilege. This involvement will help encourage respect for law, promote loyalty and patriotism, and prepare the student as a future adult citizen. Additional time will be devoted to the study of the constitution, other forms of government, due process, citizenship qualities, public opinion surveys, elections and campaigns, the three branches of government, the bureaucracy, and current legal issues. This course is offered in both the fall and spring semesters.
