C U R R E N T   E V E N T S

The goal of this course is that the student be aware of major issues of the day and have an in-depth understanding and appreciation of current events. The focus of the class will be issues that affect the student as a world, U.S., state, and local citizen. The class will follow daily news events and students will be expected to understand the social, political and economic issues on a daily basis. Each week the class will focus on the historical development of a current issue. The objectives of this course are 1) to make the connections between current events and history 2) to enhance the student’s understanding of world events 3) to encourage students to be informed citizens, and 3) to help them make intelligent decisions regarding current events and analyze history. Students will do papers on selected current topics.  This course is offered in the spring semester.
