After learning about stage fright and communication apprehension, students will write and deliver a speech about a few strategies someone could use to help them manage their anxiety around giving speeches.

This unit is designed to explore Principles of Informative Speaking, as well as three distinct types of informative speeches: speeches of description, definition, and demonstration. Through a combination of theoretical insights, practical exercises, and engaging activities, students will develop the confidence and proficiency needed to articulate information effectively in a public setting.
Students will choose a contemporary issue and write and deliver a persuasive speech appealing to pathos, ethos, and/or logos. They must use evidence and compelling arguments to persuade the audience.

Students will imagine they are delivering the commencement speech at graduation. They will write and deliver the speech in a temporal pattern, congratulating, motivating, and offering good wishes to their fellow graduates.
