GED PREPARATION CLASSES (in English and Spanish)
Our GED preparation classes at the Adult Education Center in Hartford are designed to help you develop and practice the skills required to pass the GED® Test. The four subjects are Science, Social Studies, Mathematical Reasoning, and Reasoning through Language Arts. As part of your studies, we provide in-person instruction as well as remote learning support options to improve your technology skills. Our GED preparation classes are offered both in English and Spanish.
Upon successful completion of classes you are recommended to take the GED® test. Your diploma or credential will be issued by the State of Connecticut. You will receive a transcript to provide documentation when you apply for a better job, start training, or pursue a college education. The GED® is the only high school equivalency program built to help adults achieve these goals.
Classes at the Hartford Adult Education Center are free. There is no cost for enrollment, materials, or instruction. Vouchers may be provided for our students’ transportation and the GED® Ready Practice Tests.
Practice GED Tests
Your teacher will recommend you for Practice GED® tests based upon the individual progress of each subject area. Incentive vouchers can be earned upon classroom hourly completion.
GED® Test
The GED® is a four-subject high school equivalency test that measures skills required by high schools and requested by colleges and employers. The first GED® test was created in 1942. The GED® test is updated every 10-15 years.
The current GED® test takes a little more than seven hours to complete.
The current GED® test is administered year-round at more than 1,500 testing centers worldwide. Our school is one of the centers.
People with a high school credential earn $568,000 more in a lifetime than people without a high school credential.
