There is no charge for materials for mandated courses
The Adult Education Center in Hartford is in compliance with Connecticut General Statutes Sec. 10-73a and does not charge fees for registration, instruction, textbooks or materials used in mandated program areas.
Which diploma program is best for me?
The GED is ideal for students:
who want to learn high academic skills
who read well
who want to develop computer skills
who are used to/good at taking timed tests
who want in-person instruction
who want to learn strong independent study habits
These students also have recently left high school and, therefore, only need a quick brush-up on the academic skills they already have in social studies, science, literature, writing, and math. GED classes prepare these students to pass the GED exams.
The NEDP is ideal for adults:
with employment and life experience
with good reading, math, and writing skills
with good computer skills
who are able to engage in self-directed learning (i.e. without a teacher teaching them)
who are able to work independently
who are able to keep appointments and meet deadlines
Adult Learning
Our in-class instruction at the Adult Education Center at 85 Edwards Street in Hartford provides essential support to students.
Our offerings include a combination of in-class learning, and online programs that empower educators to meet the varied needs of our adult learners.
On-line Learning: As part of your study, our teachers use remote learning support options to help improve your technology skills. You will learn to navigate programs such as Google Classroom using your assigned laptop. Your learning will be enhanced with other specialized programs such as Burlington English, Rosetta Stone, Aztec, and Achieve 3000 to meet your individual needs.
