It is important that you read and understand these procedures thoroughly before your first class begins.
If you have any questions, please ask the someone immediately.
Read the Emergency Reference Guide and Emergency Procedures Letter located in the instructor’s grade book.
Familiarize yourself with the Class Status Report Card that is attached to the Emergency Reference Guide and Emergency Procedures Letter.
Locate the evacuation route and disaster assembly area for your classroom. This can be found on the Emergency Evacuation Map posted in your classroom.
2. Locate the Emergency Supply Backpack in your classroom. It should be in one of the classroom cabinets. If it becomes necessary to evacuate your class, you must take this backpack with you.
3. If an evacuation occurs during your Prep Period, you are to report to the principal or the administrative assistant immediately.
Not every emergency will result in the evacuation of our campus. The sounding of the fire alarm is the ONLY emergency/drill that will always result in an evacuation. Teachers, unless otherwise instructed by the school office, are to use their judgment as to the necessity of an evacuation.
If an evacuation is necessary, follow the evacuation route that is assigned to your classroom. If the route is blocked, take the necessary steps to get your class to the Disaster Assembly Area.
It is imperative that you take your roll book and emergency supply backpack with you.
Once you are in the assembly area, take roll immediately. Fill out your Class Status Report and send it via student runner to Dr. Getz or Mrs. Herrera.
If an emergency/evacuation occurs during your prep period, you are to report to Dr. Getz or Mrs. Herrera immediately. Everyone is to be prepared to participate in necessary disaster teams. If you are made part of a disaster team, make sure that your class is supervised before leaving.
Passing Periods
If a disaster strikes during a passing period, students are to return to the class from which they were just released. If the emergency requires an evacuation, students should gather with their teacher at the Disaster Assembly Area. Teachers should always evacuate to the same spot in the Disaster Assembly Area so the students will know where to find them should they need to meet in the assembly area. Once you have gathered with your students, do the following:
Take attendance.
Fill out the Class Status Report.
Send the Class Status Report to Dr. Getz or Mrs. Herrera via student runner.
Be prepared to aid in necessary disaster teams.
Student Release
Students should only be released to runners who come from the student release area with the appropriate paperwork. Parents who come directly to the assembly area or your classroom should be directed to the student release area on the Academy campus. Mrs. Herrera will oversee the release of students.
