For students who have played a band instrument for at least ONE YEAR at an elementary school or at La Mesa - 7th AND 8th graders!

About Intermediate Band

The Intermediate Band program continues to develop students' ability to play wind and percussion instruments. Click HERE to learn about the different instruments we offer.

The Intermediate Band curriculum includes the following:

• Elements of music

• Music notation (rhythm and pitch)

• Instrumental technique and tone production

• Care and maintenance of the selected instrument

• Rhythm reading up to and including sixteenth notes and dotted quarter + eighth patterns.

• Bb, Eb, Ab, and F major scales; Chromatic scale

• Rehearsal and concert etiquette; 2-3 concert performances per year.

• Preparation for Advanced Band and/or high school bands
