Yes, you read that correctly. 

ANYONE can join Choir with absolutely NO musical experience at all - 7th AND 8th graders!

Choir Curriculum

Choir students learn vocal technique, musical notation, and rehearsal and performance etiquette by studying a wide variety of musical styles ranging from Renaissance all the way to popular, musical theater, and film selections. Participation in the La Mesa Concert Choir prepares students to participate in and/or audition for vocal ensembles at the high school level!

Areas of study include:

• Study and performance of common-practice repertoire selections from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras of music history

• Study and performance of Film, Popular, and Musical Theater repertoire

• Vocalise and vocal technique, including taking care of and maintaining a healthy voice

• Large ensemble rehearsal and performance etiquette

• Ear training, aural skills, and dictation

• Note reading and keyboard skills

• Music theory and symbol identification/implementation
