The Advanced Band is one of La Mesa's top ensembles, performing numerous times throughout the year at various concerts, festivals, and events both on and off campus. 

Students study advanced instrumental technique and develop ensemble musicianship in a collaborative setting. Musical selections run the gamut from the Baroque era to modern concert band music to popular music and film scores.

Membership in Advanced Band requires successfully passing an audition. Students in Beginning Band will practice for and complete the audition at the end of the school year. The vast majority of students who participate in Beginning Band and practice regularly join Advanced Band the following year.
