ANYONE can join Beginning Band with absolutely NO musical experience at all - 7th AND 8th graders!

About Beginning Band

The beginning band program introduces students to wind and percussion instruments. Click HERE to learn about the different instruments we offer.

The Beginning Band curriculum includes the following:

• Elements of music

• Music notation (rhythm and pitch)

• Basic instrumental technique and tone production

• Care and maintenance of the selected instrument

• Rhythm reading up to and including sixteenth notes and dotted quarter + eighth patterns.

• Bb, Eb, Ab, and F major scales; Chromatic scale

• Rehearsal and concert etiquette; two concert performances per year.

• Preparation for Advanced Band and/or high school bands
