August Welcome Letter 2025-2026
Welcome to 3rd grade! I am so fortunate to welcome your child this year! 3rd graders - I think you are going to absolutely LOVE 3rd grade. We have tons of fun and learn so much! I am so happy to be your teacher this year. Here is little bit about me.....When I was a child, my dream was to be a teacher. Luckily, I get to do what I am passionate about each day. I have been teaching at Harrison Township School District since 2001. This will be my 25th year in education. In my professional experiences, I have taught many ages but mostly 3rd and 2nd grades and was the virtual support teacher for the district (K-6) in 2021-2022. Outside of my experiences at Harrison Township, I was a long-term substitute teacher in a 2nd/3rd grade multiage class in Woodbury, substituted in Greenwich Township Schol District, and worked as a preschool aide in Swedesboro-Woolwich Township School Districts. I graduated from Rowan University in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a Sociology Concentration and K-12 Reading Certification. After that, I obtained a Master's Degree in Special Education from Wilmington University and NJ Students with Disabilities Certification. Currently, I am working towards another degree in School Administration through Wilmington University. I also have an extensive science background. Math and Science have always been the areas I find most exciting to teach, even though I love all the subjects. That is what makes teaching 3rd grade so awesome as we explore all of these areas together. There is nothing better than seeing my students ask questions about what we are learning!
In my spare time, my family and I love to spend time at the beach and pool during the summer and traveling. I also LOVE listening to live music, dining out, reading, and preparing home-cooked meals for my family. I am proud to be part of a wonderful community organization of women paddlers from East Greenwich, the Wicked Warriors, who participate in competitive dragon boating and various philanthropic activities that help support local children's/women's organizations in South Jersey. In July 2021, our family welcomed our son, Clarence IV. In addition to our very energetic four-year old, we also have seven nieces and nephews (2 in college already) and two kitties who keep me quite busy. As you get to know me, you will learn quickly that I am a HUGE Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies! Fall is always a special time, not just because of the start of football season, but because it is the time of year I get to welcome a new group of children into 3rd grade. I am looking forward to meeting and working with your family this year.
Please feel free to reach out to me regarding anything you feel is important for me to know to help your child succeed. Enjoy the remaining days of summer!
Regards,
Ms. Tara Reeves
