You can now record all Google Meets. See steps below. You will also receive an attendance report via email when you end a Google Meet. This report will be sent whether or not you record the Meet.
To record a Meet:
Begin the Google Meet.
Click the three dots.
Select Manage recording.
Then hit Start Recording to begin. Click Stop Recording when you want to stop.
To make sure students are not unsupervised in Google Meets, use Google Classroom generated Meet links.
From Google Classroom, find the Meet section on the Stream. Click the 3 dots and select Manage.
Turn on to make the Meet link visible to students before you are planning to Meet with students.
When the Meet is over, click "Leave" and "End the call for everyone". You must be the last one to leave!
Follow the same steps you used to make the Meet link visible to turn the Meet link off to further prevent students from joining outside of supervised meeting times.
If you are creating a Google Meet for school wide meetings, large groups, including parent/guardians, here are steps to take for security.
Option 1: If you know specifically who you are inviting, you can create a Meet link through Google Calendar. This will allow only those directly invited to join the Meeting.
Option 2: If you do not know the emails to invite those joining-
1. Create a Google Meet from meet.google.com.
2. Once created, click the lock button in the bottom right side of the screen. Make sure "Trusted" is turned on under "Meeting access type". This allows only those you have shared the link with to join (shared through Rooms, email, etc.).
3. When the Meet is over, as people are leaving, open the lock button again, and switch to "Restricted" under "Meeting access type."
4. Leave the call and select "End the call for everyone" to ensure no one is still in the call unsupervised.
