Sacha is a Senior and the Lead Editor of the Navigator Times. He loves history, archaeology, music, art and theatre. During Journalism class, he can be found stressing about font sizes and features and frequently battling his arch-nemesis, Google Docs. He loves journalism and writing, and is happy to serve as the Lead Editor this year!

2023-2024 Journalists
Student Editor and Newspaper Co-Founder
Amaia Mayberry is a senior at Harbor City International School, and one of the editors-in-chief of the Navigator Times. Known for her infamously difficult crosswords, oftentimes biting wit, and horrific overuse of the semicolon, this Librarian and Student Representative on the Harbor City Board of Directors has also been published in the Duluth Reader, and has been shown on the local news quite a few times (although never, of course, for her mastery of the comma splice). She enjoys gifts (and bribes) of suckers, chocolates, and millions of dollars. As well as being a writer and editor for the Navigator Times, Amaia can also be found in the yearbook pictures for most of the clubs around Harbor City, especially those like Action Club Team, the BIPOC Student Group, Knowledge Bowl, and Student Forum, all of which she highly recommends anyone reading this joins. At the end of her senior year, she hopes to frolic off into the East Coast sunset, where she intends to pursue a degree in anthropology, creative writing, or film and media... or any other subject that manages to catch her fancy.
Senior Journalist, Newspaper Co-Founder
Nolan Baker is a senior at Harbor City and a Navigator Times cofounder. He also helped to establish the school library, shelving books, and creating a checkout system. He can be found on numerous member lists for Harbor City Clubs, such as Action Club Team, Student Forum, and National Honors Society. In his free time, Nolan enjoys snowboarding, music, and skateboarding. After he graduates, Nolan hopes to pursue a major in psychology with a minor in sociology or education, preferably at a university in Maine or Maryland.
Nadia is currently a junior here at HCIS, where she participates in student forum, action team, NHS, and the fall play. This is Nadia’s second year writing the history article in the Navigator Times. In their freetime Nadia enjoys dancing, making up stories, drawing, and creating cosplay.
Enby is a senior and is interested in theater, literature and writing, law, free climbing, urban exploring, origami, anatomy, and psychology (not exactly in that order.) They're from southern Minnesota but moved here during the first year of their teenage-hood. They were schooled from home from the very start of school until sophomore year of high school when they were finally let loose into the wild lands of… North Minnesota… Some fun facts about them (that you could maybe start a conversation with them about, if you're intimidated but want to get to know them) are: They learned to drive in the same car that they first rode in, they've fallen off an 18 foot cliff onto rock accidentally and managed to not get hurt at all, they are dangerously reckless (yet have never broken a bone). Speaking of bones; they have a collection of bones that they find on the beach of our beautiful Lake Superior, they've eaten sand from Madagascar, and they know far too much on the topics of: Stardew Valley (they have played nearly 900 hours), Monster Energy, Subnautica. They plan to double major in the fields of theater and psychology, and promptly move to the Netherlands if they can pry themselves away from the incredible community that HCIS has amassed.
Hi everyone. I'm Davide Russello, I'm 17 years old and I'm an exchange student from Italy. In my free time I like to workout by going to the gym or running. My passions are mathematics, computer science and finance. I read a lot of books and after graduating I would like to continue my studies with a degree in these fields in order to delve deeper into my passions and make it a real job in the future.
I hope that during this semester you will appreciate the articles I will write and that they will be useful to you in your lives. See you around!
Hello I’m Marlow, he/him, 14 years old, and a sophomore. I’m in AP classes, because I am a tryhard, however in my free time I’m in the school play, and will try to be in all the ones I can. I also like to play video games, and watch youtube, and anime. Lately my latest fixations are Five Nights At Fredy’s, and racing games.
Intrepid Freshman Reporter
Hi! My name is Ari Garrett, and I am a freshman here at Harbor City. I have 5 siblings and a cat. Some of my hobbies include drawing, skateboarding, and crocheting. I have been crocheting for over 3 years now, and you can often see me working on something in the halls or in class. For the record, it helps me focus. My favorite color is dark green and I’m really, really bad at video games. Some of my favorite shows are HunterxHunter, Saiki K, and Breaking Bad.
Sometimes I sell things I crochet! I’ve had booths at lots of local craft fairs like Hoghead at the Proctor Moose Lodge, Spirit Valley Days, and even Boo at the Zoo! Look for me, say hi, or buy something that I’ve made. I also do commissions! Email me at arigarrett77@gmail.com if you want to order something. See you around!
HCIS prophet, horoscope writer, and student journalist
I'm Wylan Ausing. I'm a sophomore and this is my second year here at Harbor City. Some things about me are that I play piano, and I like to read. This year I'll be writing horoscopes again, and I'm excited to be back!
Hello! I’m Jocelyn, or Jade, and I’m a Junior at Harbor City. Despite this being my first year here, I’m looking forward to completing my next two years here. I spend most of my time doing school related things. Not that I mind! Once I complete high school I’d love to go to a four year university in China to study economics and business. My goal is to either stay there or live somewhere else to complete a law degree. I also have a huge interest in music and all that surrounds it. What I listen to ranges vastly and I’m open to recommendations of any genre. Drop me an email at jpetrovffsky@harborcityschool.org for absolutely anything! Hope to see you around!
