Keyword searching is when you type words into a search box to find articles that contain those words. Databases look for the exact words you enter. If an article doesn’t have all of your search terms, it won’t show up in the results.
Identify the main concepts in your research question or topic.
Include synonyms and antonyms (use formal or academic language).
Spell out abbreviations (e.g., “U.S.” becomes “United States”).
Add new terms as you learn more during your research.
