Using the Library Catalog
Our library catalog is hosted by Destiny Discover. Learn how to search for books, place holds, check your status, read eBooks, and more.
Search for Books
Students may search for books without logging in; however, once logged in more services are available such as placing holds, creating a favorites list, writing reviews, and checking due dates for borrowed books. To login, click the arrow in the top right corner and "Sign in with Google" using your HCS account.
In the search bar enter a title, author, series, or topic. The drop down menu or the advanced search options to the left and right of the search bar allow to create more specific searches.
Place a Hold
You may place a hold on a book to pick up at the library desk. Holds can be placed whether a book's status is "IN" or "OUT." To place the hold, click "Hold" in the lower left corner of the book. To delete the hold, click "Unhold."
Once a book is ready for pickup, an email will be sent to your HCS Gmail account. The library will hold the book for one week.
Check Your Account
At the top of the screen select "My Stuff" and choose from the drop down menu. Options include checking:
The due date of any borrowed books
A list of books previously checked out
Any books you have on hold
Your favorites list
Any fines for lost books (Please note that if a book is returned, the fine is deleted.)
Read eBooks
It's easy to read eBooks on your Chromebook or other device. Any eBook in our collection will have the eBook symbol in the top left corner. To open, simply click "Open" in the lower left corner.
Since our eBooks are hosted by different apps, directions for borrowing the book may differ. Look for a checkout button. If a login is requested, do so using your HCS Google account.
Write a Review
From a book's detail page, choose the option "+ Add Review."
Rate the book by giving it 1-5 stars and write a short review of up to 2,000 characters. Your review will become public once a librarian has approved it.
Create a Library in Your Pocket
