Campus Recreation is a fun, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment that offers multiple employment opportunities for students with a variety of interests and experiences. Student coordinators, supervisors, and managers play a critical leadership role in the management and marketing of intramurals, fitness, and clubs. Our leadership opportunities provide students with the opportunity to develop valuable professional skills through direct hands-on experience and Campus Rec student employees play a vital role in the success of all recreational programs at Hamline.

Recreation Desk Coordinator, Recreation Desk Staff

Members of the Recreation Desk Staff are essential to providing services and information related the Campus Recreation program. The main duty of the Rec Desk is to check out equipment to students, but staff also serve as the face of the Recreation Department and help provide information about all areas of Campus Recreation and the University as a whole.

Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Assistant

The Marketing Team plays a vital role in the overall promotional objectives of recreational programs. Creative and innovative students in this position have the opportunity to work with print publications, digital photography and video, graphic design, social media, and other projects, to promote all areas of the Campus Rec Department.

Fitness Coordinator, Personal Trainers/Group X Instructors

The Campus Rec Fitness program offers multiple services for the Hamline Community. The Fitness Coordinator assists in managing and promoting Group Fitness, Personal Trainers, & Yoga. Personal Trainers and Group Exercise Instructors are students who are certified personal trainers and work closely with the exercise science department in developing offerings.

Coordinator and Supervisor, Intramural Officials

The Intramural Coordinator assists the Campus Rec Director in planning and managing all aspects of the intramural program; creating leagues, training officials, scheduling and game management. Intramural Supervisors may assist the coordinator in all areas with specific responsibility in training & game management. Officials are trained on sport specific rules and do not need prior officiating experience (although it is a plus!). Officials run games from start to finish helping provide participants with a fun, competitive, safe experience.

Rec Clubs Coordinator

The Rec Clubs Coordinator works closely with the Campus Rec Director and the leadership teams of all Campus Rec affiliated student organizations. This Coordinator assists Rec Clubs with the yearly recognition and budget process, programming, facility scheduling, and leadership development. Student run organizations are a valuable part of the Hamline community and our goal is to see recreation based clubs continue to grow and provide memorable experiences for their members and the entire campus.

Piper Mascot Team


The Hamline Piper is the official mascot of Hamline University and is a key element of school pride, spirit, and tradition. This valuable position supports various on and off-campus events, programs, and varsity athletic competitions.
