Message from Mrs. Smith:
We are looking forward to some exciting events that are happening in the next couple of weeks. On Tuesday November 11, 2025 we honor our Veterans in this community at 10:00 am. We look forward to a wonderful program. We will be hosting a "Coffee and Chat" on November 17, 2025. I will be talking to families about how they can build math skills at home. Thank you to every family that attended our Literacy Tricks and Treats Night. We enjoyed seeing everyone!
Please see the information below about some parent resources about technology:
Parent ProTech is the state-purchased digital citizenship program. It gives families information on online safety resources. Please see the flyers below for more information.

Parents, please be reminded that we do not allow edible "Birthday Treats". If you wish to celebrate your child, please send in a non-edible treat (stickers, pencils, etc.) We have many students that have allergies and we are trying to keep all students safe. Thank you for your help with this.
Lunch Visitors: Please click on the link below to review our "Lunch Visitor Guidelines" and to sign up to visit your child for lunch.

Please remember that ALL visitors MUST show a Photo ID to enter the building. This includes bringing your child in after 7:45 to check them in tardy. We prefer that ALL adults step to the Front Door Camera to show their ID. Once you are buzzed in, you may step to the Front Desk for help. Please help keep our students SAFE by not holding the door for visitors if you are entering and exiting the building.
Bus Rider Parents: Please make sure that there is an adult at the bus stop each day to meet your child. If there is not an adult, the bus will bring the child back to the school. Please use the link below for instructions on how to download the Transportation Ap. This will give you information on your child's bus route and location each day.

Car Rider Parents: You must enter the Car Rider Line from the White Sulphur Road Entrance. Students do not need be dropped off until your vehicle has merged into the one lane that runs in the front of the school. We have adults to assist students in getting out of the car. Students are not permitted to be dropped off in the back or side of the building. Students are not permitted to be dropped off in the front parking lot unless they are checking in late. Students should enter and exit the vehicle on the passenger side. Thank you for your help with this safety concern.
Updates from Mrs. York:
MAP Testing:
Winter MAP testing will take place the week of December 8th for all K-5 students.
Make-ups will be completed the week of December 15th.
MAP is a normed test that adapts to your child's responses in real time to measure your child's skill level. We test in both ELA and Math.
This will be our second administration of the MAP assessment this year and we will be tracking your child's growth from the Fall. We look forward to sharing your child's growth and progress in January.
2nd nine weeks ends - December 20th
We're excited to announce that author Katrina Moore will visit Deal Elementary on December 4th! You have the chance to order some of her books, and she will sign them when she's at our school! They would make a WONDERFUL holiday gift for your child and loved ones!
All our students will have the opportunity to hear about her writing process and the awesome things involved in being a published author! We're so excited for this opportunity!
Please take a look at the flyer to the left to see how to order her books so they're ready for her visit on December 4th. Please check out your child's Tuesday folder for the book order forms.
Order forms are due back to the school by NOVEMBER 19TH.

Nerdy Nurse News
Medications: All medications should be brought to the school in a new, unopened container. Medication found on a student (without consent to self-carry) will be locked in the clinic until a parent is able to come sign consent or pick the medicine up.
Water Bottles: Students should have a water bottle each day. Please label your water bottles so we can return them if lost. Drinking water can help with headaches, sore throat, stomachaches, and help students to remain alert and focused.
💛 Quick Tip: Validate Before You Problem-Solve
When your child resists going to school, start by calmly acknowledging their feelings: “I know school feels hard today.” This helps your child feel understood and supported. Then, take the next step together by getting your child to school! Every day your child is present at school is a win!!
