NEWS FROM THE FRONT OFFICE

Wonderful Warrior Families,

It is hard to believe that October is here. Fall is in the air, and we are excited to be finishing our first nine weeks of school. September was a busy month filled with learning experiences and opportunities for your children to grow. Our annual Warrior Walk was a tremendous success! Together, our Warrior families raised over $56,000 which is an amazing accomplishment. A special thank you to our PTO Board for organizing this fantastic fundraiser and memorable event.

October is another month full of activities, and we are excited about the events taking place. Report Cards will be available on Infinite Campus' Parent Portal on October 10 at 3:30 (no paper copies will be sent home this year). We'll have our annual Fall Festival on October 23rd from 5-7PM. Also, the last week of October is busy with the Book Fair and our Spirit Week at CMCSI. Details for Spirit Week and themes for each day are below!

Fall Break is less than two weeks away and we hope our Warriors use that time to rest up and relax in preparation for a busy 2nd nine weeks. It seems that fall weather is almost here...be sure to enjoy the nice cooler temperatures while making memories with your family. Feel free to contact us if you ever need anything.

Parent Conference Week

Parent Conference Week is next week at CMCSI from October 6-10. Be on the lookout for information regarding parent conferences from your child's teacher. All parents should schedule a conference with their child's teacher which will be offered in-person, via phone, or over Zoom. Our school's goal is to have 100% participation from ALL families for conferences. The conversation teachers have with you about your child will be meaningful and a great opportunity for you to hear about what your child is learning and how he or she is progressing this year. As always, please bring a state-issued ID and sign-in at the front office prior to your conference. See you next week!

Attendance Matters at CMCSI

As we closely monitor attendance this year in an effort to reduce the percentage of students who are chronically absent, please take a moment to review the information to the right.

Helping your child at home

Wondering what you can do to set your child up for success at school? These 10 Tips for Parents are listed below and are great reminders for helping our Warriors achieve.

Set up a daily family routine, including healthy eating and sleeping habits
Provide a place and time at home for homework
Check on assignments, homework and projects
Talk each day with your child about his/her activities
Promote literacy by reading to your child and by reading yourself
Limit and monitor TV watching, gaming, social media and computer time
Express high expectations and standards for your child’s learning
Attend parent-teacher conferences, Open House and School events
Participate in decisions that affect your child’s education
Tap into community resources with visits to a library, museum, zoo or theater and encourage participation in after-school clubs, sports and art activities

Make plans to join us for our annual Fall Festival on Thursday, October 23rd from 5PM-7PM on the field at CMCSI. This is a FREE event for our CMCSI families. There will be lots of games & prizes for our Warriors. Also, there will be food, drinks & snacks for sale. Don't miss out, Warriors!

Canned Food Drive

We will once again be partnering with the North Georgia Mountain Food Bank and collecting canned foods and other non-perishable food items. These items collected benefit families right here in Hall County.

This is such a fun week for our Warriors as we focus on what it means to Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well!

Volunteer information

We appreciate the support of volunteers at CMCSI! Hall County Schools and CMCSI continue to make the safety of our students a priority. In order to keep our students safe, ALL volunteers must complete an application and training BEFORE volunteering at CMCSI this school year. Once BOTH steps are completed, volunteers will be notified of approval within 2 weeks of submitting their application. Approval must be received BEFORE any volunteer time is approved.

Volunteers must have a pre-arranged appointment with teachers or staff to assist at CMCSI. Please sign-up to volunteer for school-wide events (Walk-a-thon, Field Day, etc.) with PTO here.

Volunteers must sign-in at the front office with ID and wear a badge while in the building. ONLY volunteers who have completed the required questionnaire and Mandated Reporter training will have the option to sign-in to volunteer on the kiosk.

Volunteers must follow any required safety procedures in effect at CMCSI, which are subject to change.

Volunteers should not visit CMCSI if they feel unwell, have a fever, or exhibit symptoms of COVID-19.

Volunteers may not bring siblings, children or other visitors with them into CMCSI.

Volunteers are Mandated Reporters as defined by the State of Georgia. All volunteers are required by state law to report suspected abuse or neglect of children to school administration immediately.

Volunteers may not go to lunch, eat with their students, or visit the cafeteria during lunch times, without prior reservations, as visitor seating is limited. (Reservation information will be coming soon!)

Picture Retakes-November 5

We will have picture retakes on Wednesday, November 5th. If your child did not have his or her picture taken or if you would like their picture taken again, please have them ready for pictures on this day. Fall pictures will be used for the yearbook so all students must be photographed.

PurposeFULL People

We are excited to share that we will be using a program called PurposeFull People this year. This program teaches skills that will help students be successful in school and in life.

We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included. Students should have healthy and helpful connections with teachers and classmates. They should also experience learning that will help them tackle challenges inside and outside of school. PurposeFull People is more than a set of lessons - it is a partnership between schools and families to create a place where students feel like they belong and learn skills that will help them be the best they can be!

Your child needs to stay at home when he/she has any of the following:

A temperature of 100.4° Fahrenheit or higher

Vomiting (with or without a fever or diarrhea)

Diarrhea (with or without a fever or vomiting)

Rash of unknown origin

Red, runny, itchy eyes or wakes up with eyes “glued” shut

Earache (with or without fever)

Lunch Visitors

Reminders for Lunch Visitors

Each student may have a visit for lunch 1 time per month to allow ALL students and parents this opportunity. Parents/guardians visiting for lunch will not be required to have a reservation at this time. Depending on the number of visitors we have each day, we may have to return to reservations only to ensure parents and their child have a place to sit during lunch. For the safety of all students, please note the following:

For your child's lunch visit, 1 or 2 adults may join; No school-age siblings and younger children must be in lap or stroller (due to limited seats).
Restaurant food is allowed to be brought into CMCSI for students or visitors.
Visitors must sign in at the front office with a physical state-issued ID (no exceptions).
Lunch visitors should eat in the visitor seating area located in the gym lobby next to the cafeteria. Visitors may not eat in the cafeteria, gym or classroom.
After signing in and getting a sticker, lunch visitors will meet their child in the gym lobby as his/her class enters the cafeteria and sign-out in the main office after the lunch period ends.
Lunch visitors may not return to the classroom, playground, etc. with students.
Lunch visitors may have lunch with your child ONLY. Other students (including friends, relatives, and neighbors) cannot join your lunch visit.
Visitors may purchase lunch in the cafeteria for $5.10 each (cash or check only).
Lunch visitors must be listed on a student's enrollment card prior to coming in for lunch.

A La Carte Items for Sale

Our cafeteria will be selling a la carte items (chips, cookies, crackers) for $1. You can send $1 with your child or they can use money from their My Payment Plus account. Students will not be able to charge these items to their account.

Spirit Nights

CMCSI Spirit Nights take place each month! If your family visits the restaurant or drive-thru on our CMCSI Spirit Night, a portion of the sales will be donated to the school! Be sure to tell the restaurant you are there for CMCSI Spirit Night (for CMCSI to get credit!).
