Welcome Back, Warriors!

Warrior Families,

It has been a wonderful start to the school year! We've really enjoyed seeing all of our Warriors and settling into the routines of learning together every day. At CMCSI, our goals are to continuously grow our students in learning and character. We are continuing to implement our Warrior Way and celebrate our students every chance we get. Thank you for sharing your most precious gifts with us!

Thank you for your patience as we've worked to improve our morning car rider routines. We are continuously consulting with the district on how to improve our morning car rider drop-off processes. Again, thanks for your patience and understanding as we greet over 900 students each day!

Our CMCSI PTO Warrior Walk is September 19th! This is our main fundraiser at CMCSI. Through your donations, our PTO has purchased new shading for both playgrounds, a book vending machine, a new stage curtain, supplies for the MakerSpace Lab, books for the Leveled Library, cabinets for the Inquiry Lab, materials for Enrichment Clusters, personalized rug for our main entrance, signage in the main hallways and gym, and so much more! We are grateful for donations your child will raise to benefit our school, students and staff. Details are below and Warrior Walk packets will be sent home on Friday, September 5th in your child's bookbag. We hope you can join us for some Color Run Fun on September 19th!

Warrior Way

Every month our school will focus on on one component of the Warrior Way. In August, students began learning about what it means to be a Willing Warrior. During the month of September, students will learn what it means to be an Authentic Warrior. Below is an overview of our school's Warrior Way. Feel free to reinforce authenticity with your child at home.

The Warrior Way

Willing: Warriors do what is asked of them and help others.

Authentic: Warriors tell the truth and are true to themselves.

Respectful: Warriors show respect for themselves, their peers, authority and property.

Responsible: Warriors take responsibility for their work and actions. No excuses!

Inquisitive: Warriors engage in their own learning by asking questions and seeking solutions.

Outstanding: Warriors give their best effort all the time.

Resilient: Warriors show courage in the face of adversity. They never give up!

Students should also follow the classroom rules which fall under the “Warrior Way” expectations.

Attendance All Stars

Each month we recognize one homeroom from each grade level with the highest attendance percentage. These classes will have an Attendance All Star banner hung outside their classroom in addition to earning extra recess. Congratulations to the classes listed below!

PBIS at CMCSI

This is our 5th year of implementing PBIS at CMCSI. For those of you who may not know, PBIS stands for "Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports." Through PBIS, Warriors are learning what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to learn each day. This Friday, September 5, Warriors will attend our PBIS Assembly/Pep Rally. During this time, students will practice reciting our Warrior Pledge and be reminded of the 3R's and appropriate Voice Levels. This is a great time to share about our new PBIS cart, school-wide reward parties, and so much more. Be sure and ask your child how he or she is earning points each day. We love rewarding students for being an outstanding Warrior!

Warrior Wednesday

Don't forget that every Wednesday is Warrior Wednesday! We encourage everyone to wear spirit wear or school colors. The class with the most school spirit earns our Warrior Trophy and School Spirit Banner for the week.

We are so excited about our upcoming CMCSI PTO Warrior Walk. This is our PTO's main fundraiser for the year, and we look forward to the support of our community and local business sponsors to help us provide rewards and incentives for our PBIS carts, materials for classrooms and enrichment clusters, upgrades to our K-2 and 3-5 playgrounds, new seating for our lunch visitors, along with interior beautification projects. We'll also be fundraising to purchase supplies for classrooms and Enrichment Clusters. This year's Warrior Walk will be on Friday, September 19th. We are excited to welcome back our Color Run for our Warrior Walk again this year. Students will have the opportunity to stop at color stations as part of the COLOR RUN. If you are interested in volunteering for this fundraising event, please sign up here. ALL volunteers must complete their application & training here prior to the Warrior Walk. Parents/ Guardians may also visit your child during the Warrior Walk (but cannot help if not signed up to volunteer). No siblings or non-CMCSI students may attend. ALL visitors & volunteers will be required to sign-in at the front office with a state-issued ID, so please arrive early to allow time to sign-in.

The times that each grade level will participate in the Walk-A-Thon are listed to the right, so mark your calendar to visit during your child's time, or volunteer all day with our PTO!

Fall Festival-Mark Your Calendar

Mark your calendars and make plans to join us for our annual Fall Festival on Thursday, October 23rd from 5PM-7PM. This is a FREE event for our CMCSI families. There will be lots of games & prizes for our Warriors. Also, there will be food, drinks, and treats for sale along with everyone's favorite, Frozen Frenzee.

Volunteer Information

We appreciate the support of volunteers at CMCSI! Hall County Schools and CMCSI continue to make the safety of our students a priority. In order to keep our students safe, ALL volunteers must complete an application and training BEFORE volunteering at CMCSI this school year. Once BOTH steps are completed, volunteers will be notified of approval within 2 weeks of submitting their application. Approval must be received BEFORE any volunteer time is approved.

Volunteers must have a pre-arranged appointment with teachers or staff to assist at CMCSI. Please sign-up to volunteer for school-wide events (Walk-a-thon, Field Day, etc.) with PTO here.

Volunteers must sign-in at the front office with ID and wear a badge while in the building. ONLY volunteers who have completed the required questionnaire and Mandated Reporter training will have the option to sign-in to volunteer on the kiosk.

Volunteers must follow any required safety procedures in effect at CMCSI, which are subject to change.

Volunteers should not visit CMCSI if they feel unwell, have a fever, or exhibit symptoms of COVID-19.

Volunteers may not bring siblings, children or other visitors with them into CMCSI.

Volunteers are Mandated Reporters as defined by the State of Georgia. All volunteers are required by state law to report suspected abuse or neglect of children to school administration immediately.

Volunteers may not go to lunch, eat with their students, or visit the cafeteria during lunch times, without prior reservations, as visitor seating is limited. (Reservation information will be coming soon!)

Car Rider Reminders/Traffic Flow Map

For the safety of our students and staff, during morning drop-off for car-riders, all parents must remain in their car and go through the car-rider line. There is no walking students into school or to the front door, or sending students across the crosswalk. Parents are ONLY allowed to escort their child into the building if they are new to the school or have medication to drop-off. Please plan accordingly, and arrive early enough to go through the car-rider line.
Our tardy bell rings at 7:45 am each morning.
If students are late, he or she will need to be escorted to the main entrance door and use the outdoor camera/ call button. Students will be walked in by a staff member after parents notify our front office using our intercom system. Parents must exit their vehicle and accompany their child to check them in.
Please have your child exit your car from the PASSENGER SIDE each day, for their safety.

PurposeFull People

We are excited to share that we will be using a program called PurposeFull People this year. This program teaches skills that will help students be successful in school and in life.

We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included. Students should have healthy and helpful connections with teachers and classmates. They should also experience learning that will help them tackle challenges inside and outside of school. PurposeFull People is more than a set of lessons - it is a partnership between schools and families to create a place where students feel like they belong and learn skills that will help them be the best they can be!

News from the Nurse

Parents, we need your help. If your child has medicine that needs to be administered at school, please remember these must be dropped off by a parent and a parent permission form must be signed. If a medication is needed at school, please have parents notify Nurse Shaunda. Medication forms are linked below.

Is My Child Too Sick For School?

All first and third grade students will participate in the Prevent Blindness Screener on Thursday, September 11. The screening will be performed by a Certified Vision Screener from Prevent Blindness Georgia’s Star Pupil’s (Healthy Eyes for Healthy Futures program) or a trained school nurse. The purpose of the screening is to identify children who have, or may be at risk for, vision problems and need a comprehensive eye exam by an eye doctor. The screening is NOT a diagnosis. You will receive an initial letter sent home with your child if he/she DOES NOT PASS their screening as well as follow up communication from our vision care staff. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school nurse. If you do not want your child screened, please email your child's teacher to let her know that they will be opting out.

Lunch Visitors

CMCSI is excited to welcome our parents/ guardians back for lunch with your students! Each student may have a visit for lunch 1 time per month to allow ALL students and parents this opportunity. Parents/guardians visiting for lunch will not be required to have a reservation at this time. Depending on the number of visitors we have each day, we may have to return to reservations only to ensure parents and their child have a place to sit during lunch. For the safety of all students, please note the following:

For your child's lunch visit, 1 or 2 adults may join; No school-age siblings and younger children must be in lap or stroller (due to limited seats).
Restaurant food is allowed to be brought into CMCSI for students or visitors.
Visitors must sign in at the front office with a state-issued ID (no exceptions).
Lunch visitors should eat in the visitor seating area located in the gym lobby next to the cafeteria. Visitors may not eat in the cafeteria, gym or classroom.
After signing in and getting a sticker, lunch visitors will meet their child in the gym lobby as his/her class enters the cafeteria and sign-out in the main office after the lunch period ends.
Lunch visitors may not return to the classroom, playground, etc. with students.
Lunch visitors may have lunch with your child ONLY. Other students (including friends, relatives, and neighbors) cannot join your lunch visit.
Visitors may purchase lunch in the cafeteria for $5.00 each (cash or check only).
Lunch visitors must be listed on a student's enrollment card prior to coming in for lunch.

A La Carte Items for Sale

Our cafeteria will be selling a la carte items (chips, cookies, crackers) for $1. You can send $1 with your child or they can use money from their My Payment Plus account. Students will not be able to charge these items to their account.

Spirit Nights

CMCSI Spirit Nights take place each month! If your family visits the restaurant or drive-thru on our CMCSI Spirit Night, a portion of the sales will be donated to the school! Be sure to tell the restaurant you are there for CMCSI Spirit Night (for CMCSI to get credit!).
