2022-2023 9th Grade Career Advisement Lesson Plans
"Eagles Feed" Did you know Eagles do not eat dead things? They feed only on fresh prey. As a Freshman this means: Do not rely on past success or even focus on your failures in Middle School. Start fresh with new frontiers to conquer in High School. Your career advisement lessons this year will focus on career awareness, resume building and monthly career spotlights to help you as you start your high school career.
Today we will start with resume writing. Click the link below to access the Nearpod for 9th Grade (Please have Nearpod pulled up on your browser). If you have questions about building your resume, contact Work-Based Learning Coordinator Ms. Howard, holli.howard@hallco.org

9th Grade Advisement_Digital Citizenship Lessons
HCSD is a Common Sense Media school and as part of the certification, we must present a series of five lessons to our 9th and 10th graders. Starting this year, we are utilizing advisement to present the lessons. The next five Monday’s, you will be presenting our required 9th grade Common Sense lessons during your advisement. Each lesson is on Nearpod - all the teacher needs is a computer and projector. It is set up for the teacher to click on the link below and direct the pacing and participation. It is up to the teacher if they want to click through the slides or if they want to be more interactive. It helps if teachers have taken a little time to review the slides before showing, but it is not required.
If you don’t get through an entire lesson, that’s okay! What’s most important is to engage students in discussion so they’ll use more Common Sense!

Here is the 9th Grade Advisement Lesson for today:
Five Small Habits – should be all you need for the lesson. Other links are embedded.
Please share the lesson and have them fill out questionnaire at the end.
There are 2 items for this week's advisement. The first is to watch a short video (link below) and have students show their appreciation for frontline workers.
The second is to distribute the census reports that Mr. Skogman put in your box and have students verify their information with a signature. If they need to make changes, have them do so on the form and take up all forms at the end of advisement.
Thanks!
Thank you, Frontline Workers -

Supplies Needed:
Computer & projector with this website displayed
Agenda:
The week’s presentation goes over the “Commit to the C” activities and what students need to bring (i.e. clothes, lunch, $$ for sno-cones). It also has a Google Form for students to rank their Top 3 choices for career presenters. Find it HERE.
Permission forms to participate in team building need to go home in this week’s advisement. Signed forms can be returned to you or any CHS teacher– all paths lead to me, Mrs. Holland or Mrs. Walden. If we don’t have the form, they cannot participate in Team Building and that would be boring!
