Agenda:

1. Students will learn about the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarships and check that their graduation plan meets the HOPE Rigor Requirements.
2. Give students their graduation plans, review what the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarships are, and have them check to see that their grad plan meets the Rigor Requirements listed on the slide.

*Teachers, please collect all student grad plans at the end of Advisement. They need these for next week!*

• Cell phones or a chromebook students can login to IC to look at their grades

Agenda:

1. The presentation mirrors the student handout. Begin with reviewing what is a HS GPA and how it is calculated. Then, ask students to complete the three examples on the back of the handout. Finish with the discussion questions on the slides. If possible, collect work and keep in an advisement folder. Remind students they can find how to calculate their GPA in their agenda on pgs. 10 & 11.

1. To kick off the second semester, January's advisement lessons will focus on characteristics students need to create long-lasting change: Perspective & GRIT. Each lesson contains a video, reflection questions and activity.

1. Students must take “Commit to C” survey so we can start recruiting employers to present.
2. Remind students to talk with their teachers to find out if Winter School is an option for them; deadline to register is this Thursday, Dec. 19^th.
3. Encourage students to use Winter break to earn a few Community Service hours and show how to log them in Infinite Campus.

1. We’ve heard from some of you that your discussions last week were cut short and you’d like to finish those; go for it! The presentation can be found on the Archived Lessons page (the button to go to that page is down below). If you did finish and are ready to start a new lesson, we’ve provided that here. This week’s video is 8:00 minutes long but worth it!
2. It’s the season of Giving Thanks! This week’s video lesson, Gratitude, focuses on recognizing those in our lives who have supported us and made a positive impact on our lives and the power of saying Thank You. After you’ve showed the video, go over the reflection questions as a class, and challenge your students to complete the Gratitude Challenge!
3. Please remember to download the PowerPoint to your computer. It will not work otherwise.

1. Go through the presentation below (you will have to download it to your computer due to the video). Student’s will watch Mike Smith’s video and reflect on 1^st Nine Weeks of school. They will discuss if their effort, attitude, attendance, Test Grades, etc. reflect a person striving to reach their goals or a person who makes too many excuses.

2. Continue with the plan discussed last week to introduce YouScience and create accounts.
3. The goal is for as many students to make a YS account as possible to save time on PSAT Day. Please do not worry if not all students have time to finish, they will be able to do so on Oct. 16th.

Note: We are still working on a plan for the students who have already taken the assessment – you can let them know during Advisement that they will be in a separate room & given something different to do.

Agenda:

1. In order to reach our goals, we must prioritize and finish first the things that matter most in our lives. The lesson ends with students using their agendas to write down their upcoming assignments and prioritize what they need to finish first.
2. Give students the opportunity to vote in the 2nd round of voting for Homecoming Court using the link and QR Code in the second presentation.

Agenda:

1. Please check with your students to see if anyone still has their signed agenda pages. If they do, collect them and return them to the media center.

3. Display and work through the following presentation with your students. Collect the completed goal sheets before the period ends and return them to the library in a stack labeled with the Advisement teacher's name and grade level.
