Finding the right clinic and group ride is unique to you! Skill level descriptions help you identify where you are, which clinics will help you enhance your skills, and which group ride is your best fit!
You’re new to mountain biking and may have only ridden on pavement or gravel. Singletrack is new and exciting.
You can: balance, pedal, and use both brakes.
You’re working on: comfort on dirt, shifting, standing on pedals.
You’ve ridden mellow singletrack a few times and want to build skill and confidence.
You can: Do one-finger braking, level pedals, and basic shifting.
You’re working on: staying balanced and relaxed on smooth trails.
Level 3 — Strong Beginner
You enjoy green trails and feel comfortable standing on your pedals on slight descents.
You can: roll small roots and rocks, use your dropper, and control speed.
You’re working on: confidence on uneven terrain and moderate climbs and descents.
Level 4 — Developing Intermediate
You ride more regularly and are trying terrain with more roots, rocks, short steeps, and tighter turns.
You can: shifting predictively, rolling small to medium obstacles, and riding moderate climbs.
You’re working on: smoother cornering and comfort in rocky terrain.
You’re confident on blue trails and will try black features (walking some is normal!).
You can: ride sustained tech, lift your front wheel, and carry speed downhill.
You’re working on: linking skills together with flow and refining cornering.
You’re comfortable on black trails and varied technical terrain.
You can: complete bike–body separation, traction on steep climbs, and small drops and jumps.
You’re working on: precision, speed, and advanced feature confidence.
You handle black and double-black terrain with control and intention.
You can: complete advanced features, larger drops and jumps, as well as slow tech and fast tech.
You’re working on: refining your specialty and personal riding style.
