A New President on January 20: What Economic Policies with Joe Biden and the Democrats Introduce?

After winning the election, Biden is now the new President of the United States. With this comes many responsibilities and issues to fix. He is facing many issues such as COVID-19, immigration issues, and more. Biden has now rolled out his plans for his first hundred days in office, what are his plans for the future.

Biden has already announced the different new policies that he will introduce such as reversing the immigration policies that Donald Trump imposed, new justice reform, and the COVID-19 relief package.

Biden laid out a $1.9 trillion plan for the COVID-19 relief package that he hopes will be passed by Congress in the next few weeks. This package will increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour, A $1.4 thousand stimulus check for the people of America, and a $20 billion national vaccination program. Dylan has also stated that he will roll out at least 100 million vaccines by the end of his 100th today in office. Biden has also stated that he wants schools to reopen in around 100 days and posed a $130 billion bill to help schools reopen. Biden also wants to make it law for you to use a mask in most areas of the country for safety purposes.

Another big issue is climate change, and Biden has stated that he wants to help. Back in 2017, Donald Trump left the Paris agreement for climate change which Biden has said multiple times that he will rejoin as soon as he enters office. He has also stated that he will imply aggressive methane production limits for different gas and oil operations. He also plans to host a summit to insist the big greenhouse gas producing nations to join him in creating a more sustainable world. He aims to create more sustainable homes, with more environmentally smart jobs. This will all be included in his $2 trillion plan.

Sadly, one of the big subjects of 2020 was its racial oppression problem. Many people went to the streets to riot against racism against black people. Taking this opportunity, Biden made one of his big points in his campaign to solve this issue. He plans to do this by reforming the police brigade in America. He has stated that he will hopefully be able to accomplish this by the first 100 days in office. He has stated also that he is devoting $100 billion in low interest loans for communities of colour. He has also stated that he is devoting $50 billion for entrepreneurs of colour so that they can start their business. He is also going to invest over $70 billion in historically black countries.

When it comes to economics, Biden has introduced a new plan that will hopefully “stimulate the economy”. Biden stated that he will raise corporate tax from 21% to 28%, which was introduced by Donald Trump in his 2017 campaign. Biden has also stated that he will not raise taxes for people who are making under $400,000 a year.

One of Donald Trump‘s big controversies was his immigration plan. In 2017, He created a child separation policy where the children were removed from their families on the Mexican border. To counter this, Biden has stated that he will create a task force to reunite the children with their families. Biden has also stated that he will remove most of Donald Trump's extreme immigration policies.
