Rule #1:
**CELL PHONES ARE TO BE KEPT OUT OF SIGHT AND ON SILENT MODE**
Failure to do so will result in the following consequences:
1st Offense: You will be issued a verbal warning to put your phone away and you'll receive a zero for the day.
Subsequent Offenses: You will sent down to A4, written up and referred to the Administration for disciplinary actions.
Rule #2
Disruptive behavior of ANY kind will not be tolerated. (Conversations across the room, whistling, blurting out, chatting, unnecessary noise of any kind, etc) If you are disruptive or disrespectful, your grade will be negatively impacted. The expectation is that the computer lab will be kept as a quiet environment as many people are working on their projects and trying to focus.
Rule #3
Appropriate language will be used in the classroom at all times. If you use inappropriate language, you will receive a zero for the day, spoken to privately and written up.
Rule #4
The internet is to be used for classwork resources only.
Activities that are not allowed: Schoolwork/Homework for other classes, Social Media, Games, Sports, Shopping, etc.
**Anything that is not related to your classwork/projects**
If you violate this rule, you will receive a zero for class participation for that day and be given a verbal warning. Each computer is being monitored and tracked by Vision software.
Rule #5
No food is allowed in the computer lab. You may bring a water bottle to class and keep it at your feet in case you get thirsty during class time.
1. Coming into Class
Please come into the computer lab and sit down at your assigned seat and log on. You have assigned seats and computers for attendance purposes. Please memorize your number. Please do not move your seat or ask them to be moved. Each computer is assigned a number. Your seat and computer are yours for the duration of the class. The computer is to the left of the monitor.
2. Tutorial Day
Please use the lecture notes to follow along with the demonstration for the current project. You are responsible for taking any additional notes that you may need to successfully complete the tutorial on your own after I am finished the demonstration.
4. Work Session Day
Please open up your current project and continue working on it. Each project will have multiple concepts (ideas) required. If you finish the required concepts before the due date, you are required to create additional concepts. If there are 3 concepts required and you complete 4, I will give you extra credit for each additional concept that you complete. There will never be a time in class when you don't have something to work on. Do not rush your work, take your time, be as creative as possible.
5. Using the Bathroom
1. Come to my desk, ask permission, and you may go. This year we will not be using sign out sheets or passes. If someone is out, you will have to wait until they return.
2. Leave and return quietly.
3. Return to your seat and resume working on your project.
If you are gone for more than 5 minutes, you will be counted as cutting class and it will be written up and submitted to the Administration.
Getting Help/Asking a question
Raise your hand. I will come to you. Do not blurt out or interrupt me when I am with another student.
1. You are expected to be in your assigned seat, logged on and ready to work by the time the bell rings.
2. You are expected to work QUIETLY and remain in your assigned seat from bell to bell. I will dismiss you from class, please do not get up, wander around or wait at the door to be dismissed. I expect the computer lab to be a quiet environment where students are working and focused on creating artwork.
3. You are expected to pay attention during lab demonstrations and take detailed notes as I walk you through the tutorial.
4. You are expected to be listening when I am speaking and not talking.
5. You are expected to be respectful and polite not only to me but to each other.
You are expected to be in your assigned seat, logged on and be ready to work by the time the bell rings. If you are not, you will be marked as late.
Consequences for chronic lateness are:
If you are late 5 times, it is school policy that I am required to contact your parent/guardian and notify them.
If you are late 15 times, you will be written up and referred to the Administration.
Each marking period grade is calculated as follows:
In Class Tutorials: 40% (Each Tutorial is worth 100 points)
Projects: 50% (Each Project is worth 100 points)
21st Century Skills: 10% (There is a possibility of earning 25 points per day and subsequently, 100 possible points per week. (Being attentive, being prepared for class, behavior, attitude, and time management. Adhering to the rules and procedures as outlined on the website.)
What Do I Need to Bring to Class?
1. Headphones. You are required to bring in headphones so you can listen to music as you work. Typically, I will play music during work sessions.
2. A copy of the notes and a video will be available for each tutorial that is presented. They will be available on the Google Classroom for each specific class.
