Your Total Rewards Team has been working diligently to enhance the services we provide to you, specifically with regard to YOUR employee benefits! The first step in service enhancement is re-implementation of the benefits enrollment system, bSwift (formerly Streamlink), which was brought online June 1. The new bSwift has the same look and feel you already know, and we will be implementing additional functionality and features in the coming months that will greatly enhance the employee experience when it comes to understanding YOUR benefits and making informed choices!
Look for future communications about our new employee benefits portal, which will serve as a one-stop shop for all benefits-related information, educational videos, forms, and important notices. We will also implement a fully interactive digital benefits guidebook that will explain all of the benefit coverages, costs, and requirements in an easy to navigate format.
As we progress through the year and navigate the changing landscape of remote work and doing business in a much different environment than we are used to, we will continue to seek opportunities to offer additional services and partnerships that add value to the benefits program and bolster an already impressive total rewards package. Later this year, as we approach open enrollment season, watch your email for communications regarding information sessions and presentations about YOUR HACC benefits and ways to become a more informed healthcare consumer!
If you have questions or comments regarding your benefits, please email askHR@hacc.edu.
Berlesha N. Palmer recently joined the Office of Human Resources (OHR) as HACC’s specialist, employee relations. Berlesha joins the OHR team with over 10 years of experience in human resources, management, sales and marketing, and banking.
Combining a childhood dream of being a criminal attorney and her experience as a paralegal, Berlesha is a graduate of the Consolidated School of Business, specializing in Legal Administration. During her pursuit of her associate’s degree, Berlesha had the opportunity to expand her educational portfolio by serving as an intern paralegal for the York County Public Defender’s office. In this role, she held responsibility for preparing a variety of legal documents and criminal complaints, conducting client interviews and investigations, participating in pre-trial conferences, and assisting attorneys during trials.
Prior to joining the OHR team, Berlesha held positions as account service coordinator and outside sales manager with Clipper Magazine, as well as teller and assistant branch manager with a local community bank. From these positions, she has gained knowledge and experience in the areas of training and development, financial management, staff development and supervision, as well as sales. This variety of experience proves beneficial as she settles into the various functions of her new role with HACC.
Berlesha fulfills her civic duty by giving back to her community through Bridge of Hope of York County, a local nonprofit near and dear to her heart. The program offers a network of support to help single mothers and their families reach and maintain stability, through goals focused on housing, education, career, and finance. In addition, key goals of the program focus on spiritual healing and helping children overcome childhood traumas. Berlesha’s mantra and that of Bridge of Hope align in the common belief that it takes a community to bring about positive change and reach one’s goals.
In her free time, Berlesha enjoys spending time with her son, a recent high school graduate and her daughter, who is 12. She loves to travel and explore different areas and cultures and sample different culinary dishes from the regions in which she travels. Berlesha finds that her most peaceful place to be is on a white sand beach with crystal blue water. One of Berlesha’s favorite quotes is a statement by Nelson Mandela:
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
Please join us in congratulating employees who have entered new roles associated with the One-College reorganization, as well as employees new to the College:
The spring 2020 cohort of Excellence in Management (EIM) made it possible to complete the final two sessions using Zoom with facilitators Eileen Eckhart-Strauch, Ph.D., adjunct faculty, and Kathy Brickner, executive director, facilities, and real estate. They were a great group of active leaders demonstrating confidence and passion in their roles at the College, care for our students, and confidence in the purpose of HACC.
The next expectation for this cohort is to apply their newly-acquired skills in their work. Thank you for participating in this program!
