Zachary, a student in HACC’s Industrial Technology Program, was home schooled and obtained his General Educational Development (GED) when he was 19. He became a father at age 20 and today has five children.
Zachary said, “Most of my work experience comes within the hotel industry. I started as a van driver and worked my way up to a Front Office Manager. Now I’m working to obtain a degree that I can use to hold a standard 9-to-5 job to gain more time with my kids.”

HACC is honored to be included as a site for COVID-19 vaccination distribution. Dauphin County and UPMC are managing the entire process. This is not a HACC event.
We were given notice by Dauphin County that, in partnership with UPMC, they will be distributing the COVID-19 vaccine on the Harrisburg Campus in the West Lot (Entrance: Gate 2) on March 22 through at least June 2021.
To limit the possibility of any COVID-19 exposure for our students and employees and out of respect for Dauphin County and UPMC, on the dates of distribution, we will close the West Lot where the vaccines will be distributed. All students and employees should park in the East Lot (Entrance: Gate 1). Please note: There will be no changes to class schedules.
Vaccine registration for this location will be through UPMC registration. Unless invited by Dauphin County or UPMC, you are not authorized to access the vaccination distribution site. Dauphin County will develop, communicate and manage all guidelines and procedures for vaccine distribution, eligibility and enrollment.
Many of you have heard me often say that “HACC is the community’s college.”
I was offered the opportunity to expound on the myriad reasons why earlier this year during an interview with The Admission Guys – Cole Godfrey and EJ Smith, college admission professionals at Lebanon Valley College. I joined them via Zoom to talk about the benefits of starting the college journey at HACC.
My passion for what HACC offers our students – those of all ages from many walks of life – and the College’s role in supporting the community are captured in this 36-minute interview.
The Admission Guys asked if I had a massive billboard and could put anything on it, what would I say and why. The answer was easy: Community college changes lives, changes destinies and changes family trees. I see it every day in and out of the classroom.

Do you know what percentage of students receive financial aid? Did you know the HACC Foundation funded $2,865,127 for projects at HACC during 2019-20? Are you aware of the percentage of students enrolled part time at HACC?
The answers to these questions and more can be found in the collegewide HACC By the Numbers document available on myHACC.
