Mental Wellness During the Warmer Months

Welcome to May, HACC Student! As you anticipate the fast-approaching end of semester and begin to imagine warmer days, being with family and friends and getting to take a break from such busy schedules, we wish to remind you to take care of your mental health. Although more free time in the summer can be helpful, not having a routine can impact the way you’re feeling mentally. This month we’ve gathered helpful resources below that will help jump-start your summertime mental wellness. Find more resources on the HACC calendar of events during the month of May! 

Wellness, Athletics, Recreation and Engagement (W.A.R.E)

Afro Cardio

Mondays from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

W.A.R.E welcomes all HACC staff, students, faculty and community members to join this upbeat and uplifting class! AfroCardio is instructed by Ashia J. who is the owner and creator of AshiaJ AfroCardio, LLC and ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Group Fitness Instructor. AfroCardio is a specialized, invigorating Afrocentric total body workout. AfroCardio uses cardio training dance moves to help shred the core, strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and assist with weight loss while learning culturally accurate dance moves done to Afro beats, African drums, hip hop, and dance hall. Participants will leave feeling uplifted. The workout is for all levels. Modifications and low-impact moves are given throughout the workout.

Join Jodi Kain for a revitalizing cardio and strength training class using your own body weight, or hand weights for additional resistance. This class will leave you feeling energized and ready for the day!
