HACC Library faculty and staff would like to express their gratitude to Kathleen Conley as she steps down from her role as Department Chair. Kathleen has been the Chair since Academic Affairs adopted the current model eight years ago and served as the Chair representative to Faculty Senate Council for many terms. Since 2013, she has led the faculty librarians to incorporate active learning and scaffolded instruction in the classroom, to pursue equity in collection development, to use Navigate in their role as advisors, and to always first consider the student . During the time of COVID, Kathleen continued to lead the faculty as they taught students in more than 600 information literacy sessions and 2500 Library Chats. Kathleen has a gift for understanding a person's strengths and encouraging the development of those strengths in a professional environment. Students and faculty will now appreciate having more of her experience in their classrooms, whether remote, in-person, or virtually.

Kudos to Chef Tom Long and Chef Steve Gump. These two will soon be able to write a memoir “My Experience Working for Every Department at HACC”! We have always known these two to be the most positive and upbeat guys, but now they truly are some of the hardest working as well. The chefs joined the Maintenance team on temporary assignment, following the closing of the screening booths, and they have been assisting us with all the moves and logistics around the Midtown 2 consolidation effort. Their help has been so impactful to our operation and facilities cannot begin to thank them enough.
Kudos to PA STEAM Academy for subleasing the Midtown 2 Building this year, which is the last year of the HACC lease.
