On-going Assignments

Read as many books as you can every day.

1. Journals/Planner

Click on the picture to see/print the template we used in class for doing our planner. You can make your own page, too! Work on this assignment a minimum of four times a week.

Your child should be able to do the following:

  • Copy or print the month
  • Write the numerals to match the day of the week (Have your child use a calendar or look at yesterday's number.)
  • Draw the weather: Look at what is happening in the sky and draw it
  • Thermometer: Fill in an approximate temperature (The line represents 0c and when it's melting outside.)
  • Fill in the moon (Darken in what you cannot see on the moon.)
  • Draw a picture of something done that day
  • Write a short sentence starting with one of these:
      • It is...
      • I like...
      • We did...
      • I see...
      • I saw...
      • Look at the...
      • I can...
      • I can see...
      • I play...

2. Personal Monthly Drawings

The pages for the rest of the school year are in your child's belongings bag.

Your child should be able to do the following:

  • Print his/her name (at least first name, but preferably with the last name, too)
  • Draw a picture of himself/herself (including clothes and other details)
  • Include other details in the drawing to tell where he/she is or what he/she is doing in the picture
  • Colour the picture

Extra Challenge: Have your child print a sentence about the picture. The sentence starters in the previous assignment (listed above) can be used. (If needed, scribe for your child.)
