Planning

Learning is planned to ensure good progression across the subject. Long Term Planning grids show the learning that will be taking place throughout the year and demonstrate the clear learning journeys that pupils will follow.

In Science, these journeys are split into a range of themes, taught across a range of year groups, including:

Each of these themes is complimented by a range of enquiry types, full of opportunitites to develop, strengthen and practice scientific skills and use of equipment. 

The more dertailed planning attached below shows the breakdown of objectives, enquiries, scientists and key learning in each of these units which are used to plan indidivual lessons, retrieval practice and learning journeys. Each unit discrete learning may change slightly due to the interests of the children and topical science themes.
