In History we have integrated a range of strategies into the lesson structure and delivery to support the inclusion of all learners within learning. This ensures that all of the children at Gurnard Primary School receive a broad and balanced curriculum that is suitable to the needs of all.
Photos 1 and 2 show children (KS1 & 2) using replica and real artefacts to experience a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning.
Photos 3 and 4 shows children in KS2 using technology to create a media project linked to their topic, which does not require intensive writing or resourcing for learners who need a more varied approach.
Photos 5 and 6 show immersive learning opportunities through Now-->Press-->Play. These immersive, interactive adventures have proven successful in making abstract themes and concepts more engaging to those with a range of requirements.
Photos 7 and 8 show pupils 'making' rather than 'writing' to show their understanding.
Photos 9 and 10 show how we often use role play or physical activities and outdoor learning to display understanding and progress learning in History. This approach helps to engage pupils that would normally find a potentially reading and writing-heavy subject such as History difficult to access.
