The FAFSA
To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, you need to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Submitting the FAFSA gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college or career school.
In addition, many states and colleges use your FAFSA information to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.
The FAFSA form will become available in December!

The FSA ID
The FSA ID is a username & password you create and use to login & submit your FAFSA.
The FSA ID shouldn’t be created or used by anyone other than you.
You’ll use your FSA ID every year you fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.
FAFSA Documents
What you will need to complete the FAFSA:
Student and parent/guardian FSA ID
Student & Parent Social Security Number (SSN)
If your parent/guardian does not have a SSN you will enter 000-00-0000
Drivers License (if you have one)
Parent/guardian 2021 Tax records
Parent/guardian W-2 Forms
Any records of untaxed income
Any records of assets
List of schools you're interested in applying to

Once you have submitted your FAFSA, you will receive an email from California Webgrants. On this site, you will be able to check your application status, verify your school of attendance for the Fall 2022, check your award amount and # of years left of financial aid eligibility.
