Community College

• Submit a college application 
  • create an OpenCCC account and apply to the community college of choice (Ex. SD City)
  • After applying wait 24-48 hours to receive acceptance and next steps
• Complete your FAFSA OR CA DREAM Act Application
• Complete new student online orientation
  • after you are accepted you will receive an email with orientation instructions and your student ID number
• Complete the assessment process
  • Usually completed via a questionnaire where you will input HS GPA and math/english course(s) taken senior year
• Develop an Educational Plan with a counselor
  • this plan will help you know what classes you need to take to obtain your educational goal (ex. associates degree, transfer to a 4-year, and more)
• Register for classes/Pay fees
  • You will receive an email indicating your registration date and time
  • Pay any outstanding fees that may not be covered by your financial aid
