Work Completion and Grading
● Students are expected to complete classwork and homework to the best of their abilities. Students who are unable to access or complete their assignments should contact their teacher. Support is available for students needing additional time and/or alternative resources. Parents will be notified when students are not participating to meet the E-learning expectations.
● Classwork and homework will continue to be graded based upon the academic expectations established by each teacher. However, students will have the ability to improve upon their work as they too adapt to remote-learning.
Suggestions for Parents
● Be sure your child gets plenty of rest and goes to bed at a reasonable time
● Be sure your child has a comfortable spot to learn free from distractions
● Be sure your child is comfortably dressed
● Have your child’s schedule posted for easy access
● Have incentives available for completion of work
● Try to refrain from disrupting the lesson. Save your personal questions to the end of the lesson, or email the teacher.
● Try to build independence by leaving the room but monitor attention by popping in to spot check. Check for completed assignments.
● Redirect attention without over prompting your child. Use non-verbal cues.
● Avoid helicopter parenting during instruction. Aim to be a support for your child without being a distraction to his/her learning.
● Partner with the teacher and know that he or she truly has your child’s best interest at heart
● Offer grace, as the remote learning environment should be a risk-taking, engaging and lively place where mistakes can be made without judgement so that learning can occur.
