Guideline: A variety of tools available to allow for multiple ways for students to access the learning for developmentally appropriate lengths of time
Action Steps:
Synchronous learning using Zoom/Google Meet using varied materials and programs
● Live streaming of class lessons and small group or individualized instruction
● Project Based Learning with “live-remote” mini-lessons and feedback
● Middle school students will follow the 9 period day and will engage in live lessons for each period. Middle school teachers will provide mini-lessons for up to approximately 20-30 minutes of the period of live instruction, followed by independent practice. Students will not be expected to engage in live instruction the full 42 minutes of each period unless needed.
● Elementary aged students will engage in live lessons for all 4 content areas including service provision and RTI sessions. Additionally, students will engage in live lessons for all specials including Art, Music, PE and Theater. The duration of live lessons will vary based on developmental appropriateness. The recommended lesson plan structure includes (but is not limited to) a 10-15 minute live mini-lessons, followed by live small-group breakout sessions, and independent practice.
Asynchronous learning using Google Classroom
● Teacher made videos
● Selected pre-made videos
● Self-paced lessons on approved software
● Lesson materials/lesson links provided to students/families via Google Classroom
● Paper packets, journals, workbooks, etc. sent to families for reinforcement of skills
● Project Based Learning that requires content and skill lessons, varied learning activities, and may be multi-day culminating in a project that will be assessed
